…onehundredandone: things about bb…

  1. i was born in CA. but i consider home northwestern PA; i moved there when i was 7.
  2. my dad was a colonel in the air force. which is why i lived in five different states before he retired from the military when i was in 2nd grade.
  3. i am an only child. but i have three halfsiblings. (2 brothers & a sister).yet i maintain that i’m an only child.
  4. it gets under my skin when/if people insinuate i’m spoiled because of that. i am an only child whose parents paid for three college educations.
  5. one of my fondest childhood memories was getting up early on saturday mornings and going to garage sales with my mom. and my bag of shiny quarters.
  6. a lot of people don’t know that. or knowing me and my family now, would ever believe that.
  7. i think the fact that i can wear tiffany’s bracelets on one hand and a walmart watch on the other, and be proud of it, stems from the aforementioned.
  8. my half siblings are more like cousins to me and were raised by their mother in the deep south. they are 8, 10 and 12 years older than me.
  9. we’re getting to be closer as i get older.
  10. growing up i would get very frustrated because people didn’t understand the difference between “step” and “half.” i still sometimes get flustered when explaining my family situation.
  11. i have been in love three times. real, all-consuming love.
  12. i will be 25 on august 11th. and am the baby of my grade.
  13. i am currently single.
  14. my mother once made the remark during “bridget jones” that it reminded her of me. it was the opening scene where she’s singing to herself and drinking from a bottle of wine. alone. le sigh.
  15. i like to put the article (?) “le” in front of words. its fun. you should try it.
  16. i am 100% leo. maybe even 111%. really. it’s kinda scary.
  17. i do celebrate my half birthday. why? because having a summer birthday, no one is around. and people have forgotten my birthday a lot in the past.
  18. because of this, i tend to make a very BIG deal about birthdays. they are very, very important to me. no one should be forgotten on their birthdays.
  19. i believe in the zodiac and all those personality profiles. some may laugh at me for this. i don’t care.
  20. i think its safe to say when i love, i love fiercely. and with all my heart.
  21. despite my failed attempts in the love/relationship department, i refuse to be bitter. and continue to wear my heart on my sleeve.
  22. i honestly believe there is nothing worse than a bitter woman. also, that everything happens for a reason.
  23. i’m a shameless flirt.
  24. i tend to make all my girlfriends’ eyes roll with the number of men/stories that seem to be in my life. it’s a constant. the men may change back and forth, coming in and out of the woodwork, but i am never short of them, or a story.
  25. this is why many believe that i need to author a book. which i would like to do.
  26. i like sparkly things.
  27. i was raised with the morals and ideals of a completely different generation than most my friends. my parents married at 36/37 and had me when they were 38/39.
  28. i strongly believe this is one of the reasons i have a lot of very close friends who are at least 5 years older than me.
  29. my parents are my best friends in the entire world. and know pretty much everything about me. more than they should.
  30. i amend that last statement; my mom is my best friend in the entire world and knows everything about me. which is good. and bad. especially because the older i get? i learn that the apple has not fallen far from the tree.
  31. my dad and i have a complicated relationship. we’re working on it. you would never know that though, because on the surface? our relationship looks picture perfect.
  32. i’ve learned that often times the surface is only just a glimmer into so much more. kinda like the tip of the iceberg analogy.
  33. the number thirtythree will always remind me of my first love. i write about him from time to time. he is known as “ken” on here. that was his football number.
  34. i’m blond but i’ve been a brunette. briefly.
  35. people treated me differently as a brunette. they treated me with more respect.
  36. i remember this when i happen to make an instant judgment about someone. and scold myself.
  37. people often describe me as being genuine. i think this is one of the greatest compliments one could ever receive.
  38. in high school i was varsity cheerleader captain, ran track&field, was head majorette, and was president of umm, everything.
  39. p.s. i’m an overachiever.
  40. that spilled over into my college years, where i was vice president of my sorority, and vp of public relations for the greek panhellenic council. this was also balanced with my involvement in PRSSA, ad club and working at university/community daily newspaper.
  41. i’m still involved in said sorority life. i’m a chapter advisor at a university here in boston. i love it.
  42. i view my girls as my little cubs. and i’m the mama lion. did i mention i’m fiercely loyal and protective of those whom i love? because i am.
  43. my best friends/college roommates/sorority sisters razz me for my involvement in the chapter still. i think they secretly love it.
  44. even if they don’t, i pretend they do.
  45. i have an irrational fear of pigeons. i hate them. and have been known to run away screaming after being dive bombed /attacked by one. it was not a pretty sight. and st. mark’s square, in venice? my own personal hell.
  46. i think that the first snowfall, highlited by twinkly white xmas lights at nighttime is quite possibly one of the most beautiful sights in the world.
  47. especially walking hand in hand in the quiet of the night, witnessing it with someone special.
  48. i am addicted beyond all reason to text messaging.
  49. i do not eat things that come from the sea. or were featured in the little mermaid. i get very, very sick if i do. this makes living in Boston super fun.
  50. i am a complete and total music junkie.
  51. every song, lyric, what have you, i can relate back to and pinpoint an exact moment in my life.
  52. this makes it very hard to listen to cds and the radio sometimes.
  53. i absolutely cannot fall asleep with socks on.
  54. given the choice, i will choose music over tv every time. unless one of my favorite shows is on…and there are very few of them. i’m not a tv junkie.
  55. i will throw sharp objects at you if you ever call me a groupie. or a band aid. i can’t help it that i have an undefinable intense friendship/relationship with a rockstar.
  56. i’m what you could call a triple threat. i can dance, sing and act. however my parents told me that i could not pursue musical theatre in college, because i needed to get a “real job” one day. and that i couldn’t handle a life filled with constant rejection.
  57. they didn’t crush my dreams, or anything.
  58. i will always see myself as a dancer. i danced since i was three, all the way through HS graduation. i find my center at the barre. i will absentmindedly tap out a rhythm if i’m just standing there, bored. and i love the acrobatics and flexibility that has stayed with me.
  59. this may or may not have come in handy once or twice in the bedroom. perhaps.
  60. i adore being on stage. oh, hello there. did i mention i’m a leo? and a 100% attention whore? no? just thought i’d clear that up.
  61. i was a cantor for my church my sophomore-thru-senior years of highschool.
  62. yes, i’m catholic.
  63. during the lenten season i sometimes get mini panic attacks if i eat meat on sunday. because for some reason, i get that rule confused with it only being fridays you’re not supposed to eat meat. i don’t know. i never said i made sense.
  64. i miss my grandpa every single day. (he died in march of 2002.)
  65. he taught me how to play solitaire as a little girl. its still my favorite card game to this day.
  66. when i was little, i was afraid to play said card game at night, lest i win. because if you win, you “beat the devil.” i was a strange child.
  67. sad movies make me cry. like a baby.
  68. sometimes i also cry during chase credit card commercials.
  69. it is possible that i am a very emotional person.
  70. i swoon over a quick wit. i find it very sexy. also, intelligence? le. swoon.
  71. i am obsessed with pinkishgold toned lip glosses. i probably have at least thirty of them. all (roughly) the same shade. they are, however, all different brands. and yes, i can tell the difference between them thankyouverymuch.
  72. i’m also a product whore. sephora? you are the devil’s playground.
  73. that being said, one of the things that i am most proud of is that i only APPEAR high maintenance. in fact, as my guy roomie points out, it’s quite shocking how low maintenance i really am.
  74. i think he has issues over the fact it takes him longer to get ready than me. he will deny this to the day he dies.
  75. i live with a boy. and i love it. no, we are not dating. i don’t think his girlfriend would like that very much.
  76. one of my favorite places to be in the whole world is wrapped in a cocoon of snuggliness, in my bed. I love my down comforter, broken-in jersey sheets and many, many pillows that makes my bed the GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH.
  77. i have a puppy. he is a puggle, and the most adorable dog in the world. i like to think of him as my child.
  78. i have been known to drunk dial. it is not a pretty habit.
  79. i like riesling. a lot.
  80. but i like jack&coke more.
  81. jackie o is my style icon. she had class.
  82. that being said, i don’t feel complete, or totally put together without my pearl earrings and big black sunglasses. they are staples to my wardrobe.
  83. my closet is organized in ROYGBIV order. types of clothing separated into their own little groupings.
  84. i only set my alarm clock to go off at odd times; ex: 6.47, 6.59, 7.03, 7.09.
  85. its possible i might be a tad anal retentive.
  86. this, however, does not mean i’m above eating in my bed, spilling crumbs everywhere. or, to occasionally have it look like my closet threw upon my room.
  87. i have a very sensitive sense of smell. its a blessing and curse.
  88. i hate the smell of flowers. hate. this, however, does not give you a get out of jail free card if you are my boyfriend. i like the LOOK of them, and expect that this minor detail should not curtail my receiving of bouquets. picked roadside, or from the nicest flower shop around. it doesn’t matter. where or how. you just won’t find me constantly sniffing at them. just gazing at them lovingly.
  89. i do like the smell of rubber cement. not that i’m a huffer or anything. hmm. this could explain why i might have killed a few braincells back in in my scrapbooking days. which i still like to do. scrapbook, that is.
  90. i love my handwriting. really, i do. in fact, i’m kinda obsessed with it. it’s ok, i’m not the only one. other people like it too. it’s often described as looking like a font. i’m very proud of this fact.

ok I’m not even 1/2 way through but numbers 17 and 18? We are the EXACT same person! My bday is Dec 28th and it always used to get forgotten and I’ve got anger issues about not being able to take cupcakes to school when I was a kid so now I am THAT girl making a huge deal out of my bday. But atleast I’m in good company! :)

Ya, I bawl my big brown eyes out everytime I see it!

And BTW, I’m from Pittsburgh, nice to find someone who can appriciate my hometown, and of course, Heinz 57!

  3. I totally celebrate my half birthday; I TOTALLY have my closet colored coded and broken down my type; I’m a shameless flirt AND an only child.

  19. So I started to pick which things were eerily like me.. and then I found numbers that were so different than myself! I couldn’t decide if we were similar or not.
I’m a Pisces. Does that tell you anything? Lol
I LOVE birthdays more than anything, you don’t have to love YOUR birthday but you do have to LOVE mine. And celebrate with me.
I don’t think I have tear ducts, I never cry.
I can’t organize myself EVER but GOD do I love The Container Store.
But all together you sound like tons of fun and we should be blog friends!
and now my Pandora radio is on while I’m trying to make it not look like my closet threw up on my floor. But even if I get that cleaned up it still may look like a bomb went off..
